بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم ۔ کیا آپ نے اس شخص کو دیکھا جو سزا و جزا کو جھوٹلاتا  ہے ؟ یہ وہی ہے جو یتیم کو دھکے دیتا ہے- اور مسکین کو کھانا کھلانے کی ترغیب نہیں دیتا- پس ایسے نمازیوں کے لئے ہلاکت ہے- جو اپنی نماز سے غافل رہتے ہیں- جو ریاکاری کرتے ہیں- اور< ضرورتمندوں کو> معموملی چیزیں دینے سے بھی گریزکرتے ہیں۔ {سورہ ماعون} بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم ۔ کیا آپ نے اس شخص کو دیکھا جو سزا و جزا کو جھوٹلاتا  ہے ؟ یہ وہی ہے جو یتیم کو دھکے دیتا ہے- اور مسکین کو کھانا کھلانے کی ترغیب نہیں دیتا- پس ایسے نمازیوں کے لئے ہلاکت ہے- جو اپنی نماز سے غافل رہتے ہیں- جو ریاکاری کرتے ہیں- اور< ضرورتمندوں کو> معموملی چیزیں دینے سے بھی گریزکرتے ہیں۔ {سورہ ماعون}

The holy month of Rajab opens its doors of virtues with the birth anniversary of the seventh infallible, our fifth Imam Mohammad Baqar (as).

Born in the city of his great grandfather, Prophet Mohammad (pbuh), Imam Mohammad Baqar (as) was the only Imam who was related to Janab-e-Fatima Zehra (sa) from both maternal and paternal side. Imam Mohammad Baqar (as) was brought up by none other than Imam Hussain (as) himself for the first three years of his life. After the tragedy of Karbala, his father Imam Zain-ul-Abideen (as) protected and supported him. According to the command of Allah and the decree of the Prophet (pbuh), the fourth Imam appointed his son, Imam Mohammad Baqar (as), to imamate and leadership of the people in the 95 A.H. He remained Imam for the rest of his life until 114 A.H. and the total period of his Imamate is 19 years. Allama Hajr Makki writes in Sawa’eq-e-Moharaqa (page 120) that Imam Mohammad Baqar (as) was the true copy of his father Imam Sajjad (as) in knowledge, piousness and prayers & supplications.

In the excellence of his own purity and virtuous traits, the Holy Imam Mohammad Baqar (as) was a model of his great grandfather and Prophet (pbuh) and Ali-ibn-Abi Talib (as). His preaching created a spiritual sensation among the Muslims in general. He was not only generous even to his worst enemies but also used to continually advice them to the right path. The talents and superior intellect of Imam Baqar (as) resulted in great abilities of knowledge that included all sciences, such as the tradition, philosophy, theology, jurisprudence, high maxims, and high-standard morals.

Like all the infallibles, Imam Mohammad Baqar (as) was granted with the Divine knowledge and wisdom. Imam Mohammad Baqar (as) was a highly spiritual leader with the given knowledge of religion from Allah. Nobody can deny this Imam’s admirable character, his personal piousness and his gratitude towards spreading of knowledge. It was to the fifth Imam that the Holy Prophet (pbuh) had sent his Salaam through Jabir Ibne Abdullah Ansari. The Holy Prophet (pbuh) had said:
“Oh Jabir, you will live till you meet the 5th of my descendants, He will bear my name which will be Mohammad Ibne Ali-Ibn-ul-Husain (as). On Him Allah will bestow light and wisdom. When you meet Him then offer Him my Salaam (salutation) which I send Him through you.”

Soon the day arrived when the 5th Imam (as) was born and then few years later met Jabir Ibne Abdullah Ansari inside the mosque. On approaching Janabe Jabir Imam Zain-ul-Abideen (as) said benevolently to his young son: My dear son, offer your salaam to the old disciple (Sahabi) of your great grandfather and give him a kiss on the forehead. When Imam Mohammad Baqar (as) came near him, Janabe Jabir, who now was blind, asked: Who are you, please tell me your name?

After the salutation, the fifth Imam replied: I am Mohammad Ibne Ali (as). Upon hearing this, Hazrat Jabir stood up and began to kiss the Imam and embraced him. With this delight of at last meeting the 5th descendant of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), Hazrat Jabir forgot His holy message. But Imam Mohammad Baqar (as) with His knowledge of the hidden reminded Janabe Jabir of his unfulfilled promise. The salutation sent by the Holy Prophet (PBUH) was lastly offered and received.

Every word of Imam Mohammad Baqar (as) said was worth of gold. Not only his friends but even his enemies took advantage from his acuity. sImam Mohammad Baqar (as) intellect often left people speechless with his eloquence and depth of knowledge. Once he said: I admonish you regarding five things; if you are wronged, do not commit wrong doing to others, if you are betrayed, do not betray anyone, if you are called a liar, do not be furious, if you are praised, do not be jubilant, if you are criticized do not fret and think of what is said in criticism, if you find in yourself what is criticized about you, then you are falling down in the eyes of God; when you are furious about the truth, it is much greater calamity then your falling down in the eyes of the people. And if you are opposite of what is said (in criticism) about you, then it is a merit you acquired without having to tire yourself in obtaining it.

The fifth Imam devoted his life for spreading the teachings of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) and continued to guide the people to the right path of Islam. One of his most admiring concerns was to insist on people to earn their living by their own hard work. Imam Mohammad Baqar (as) was against redundancy and ostracized people who begged for their needs to be fulfilled. We find many sayings of this Imam on the issue of encouraging people of earning their income by hard work.

Imam Mohammad Baqar (as) said: "The one who gains his provision by his hard work and by his livelihood provides his family, helps the underprivileged and poor. His face will be lightened like a full moon on the day of resurrection"

Shaheed Foundation Pakistan whole team extends Congratulations to Imam-e-Asr (as) and the entire Muslim ummah on this delightful occasion of the birth anniversary of our fifth Imam, Mohammad Baqar (as), a personality who illuminated the history of Islam, one who helped his father, Imam Zain-ul-Aabideen (as), spread the truth behind Karbala and saved Islam through continuing the jihaad of Bibi Zainab (sa) and Imam Zain-ul-Aabideen (as).
